    J&W Tech breach 1GHz and 2000 3DMarks on AMD 780G Feb 4, 2008 - Carl Bloor - Permalink

JW 3DMark & CPU-Z chip and core results
J&W technologies, a motherboard manufacturer from mainland China that is hoping to impress European customers, has this week published results of its attempts to overclock the ATi graphics core (a 3200 HD) built into the latest AMD 780G chipset.

The company has managed to overclock the core, which normally clocks at 500MHz all tyhe way up to over 1GHz or 1023MHz. Tests resulted in a 3DMark 2006 score of over 2000 points all told. Not half bad if you consider this was running with simple air cooling using the stock heatsink (no fan).

Quite an impressive chipset if you're in the market for one soon. This graphics core is also DirectX 10 capable and meets the Windows Vista Premium requirements for all those snazzy effects of Vista (don't forget fat juicy lumps of RAM with that).

If you can get one, the new board from J&W is the J&W RS780UVD-AM2+ which is Phenom, Athlon and Sempron ready and supports the HT 3.0 and PCI-E 2.0 standards.
